University of Plymouth’s Student Union
UPSU are there to support the well being of every student studying with the University of Plymouth, they aim to make sure you have a successful, fulfilling and rewarding time both at university and in the future.
Marjon Student Union
Marjon Student Union (MSU) has the students at its heart. Offering support, guidance and advice, MSU hosts societies, sports clubs, and regular events to enrich students’ experience both academically and socially. True to its ethos, the MSU is run by people elected by the students.
University of Plymouth RFC
“We are the University of Plymouth Rugby Mens Club, we have 3 teams and around 100 members, we look forward to another year of sponsorship with Bryce Properties.”
Plymouth University Lacrosse
“UPLAX is a mixed gendered lacrosse club at the University of Plymouth. We have 3 ladies teams and Mens teams. Our main aim is to promote lacrosse within the Southwest and develop all our players. The club is open for all skill levels, with the majority of members being complete novices at the start. We had a very successful season last year, with our Mens 1st team being undefeated all year, winning the 2023 Western Conference Cup. They also won their BUCS league, leading to a promotion for this season. And our Ladies beat Marjon for the annual varsity match, meaning they retain the title.”
Plymouth Univeristy Rowing Club
“UPRC is proud to have a squad of dedicated athletes, from complete beginners to potential GB athletes. We row at Dart Totnes where there’s a great team environment, encouraging individuals to improve fitness and wellbeing and to compete at a high level.”
Plymouth University Dance
“UPDC offers a range of classes: Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Heels. Recreational classes run weekly during term time, catering to both beginner and intermediate dancers. For more advanced dancers, we have our squads that compete in inter-university competitions.”
University of Plymouth Swimming, Synchro & Water Polo Club
“Our club offers member access to Competitive, Recreational, and Synchronised Swimming along with Water Polo. We welcome both students who’ve swum and played before, and those who are new to the sport. We compete in various competitions throughout the year including the British University Swim League, BUCS, Varsity and Synchro displays. Last year we achieved some amazing things like winning all three of our Varsity events against Marjon and we hope to keep that up this year.”
Plymouth Mens Basketball
“We are the Plymouth Sharks, Plymouth University’s Basketball Club. We run 3 teams, with our 1st team playing in BUCS and our 2nd team playing in local league. The 3rd team is there to develop players with weekly training and occasional friendlies. The club is open to players of all levels to come and enjoy socials and training!”
Plymouth University Netball
“University of Plymouth Netball Club is a fun, inclusive sport club which provides coaching, game play, and social activities for Plymouth University students. We really appreciate our sponsors for the year, including Bryce Properties.”
UPSU Marine Biology Society
“We are a University of Plymouth society that focus on all things marine from providing educational talks with influential people within the field, to organising rockpooling sessions to help members learn about the organisms that live within the intertidal zones of Plymouth. We have plenty of fun activities planned for this year (themed night outs, coastal walks and pottery painting to name a few) and are open to anyone joining!”
Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club
Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club is one of the largest hockey clubs in the South West, running teams from Under 6’s to Masters. They pride themselves on being an inclusive, family-friendly club. Their Men’s 1XI play in the EH National League, providing the highest standard of hockey for men in the city. They offer social and competitive hockey for all and have several teams playing in the Plymouth Mixed Summer League.
Marjon Men’s UFC
“We are a football club with teams across multiple leagues in BUCS and local leagues. We aim to not only go out and get a result each week but to create a family type atmosphere across all our teams by supporting each-other as a club on and off the pitch.”
